Hello all
It has just been pointed out to me that the majority of work we undertake in
schools to promote understanding of mental health and tolerance of problems,
neglects the scientists and mathematicians.
The obvious mechanisms we use on a regular basis are art, drama and poetry.
For those schoolchildren (of which I was one) who would much rather be
working out a long maths puzzle that acting in front of my peers, this is
their idea of a nightmare.
Does anyone know of any good ideas for promoting mental health issues to young
people through maths and science? As well as the usual understanding and
tolerance issues, we are particularly looking at the importance of emotional
wellbeing and resilience and reducing the stigma of getting help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks
Jenni
