The Office of Science and Technology is supporting a bursary scheme for this year's science communication conference.
The conference takes place on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 May, a draft programme is available at http://www.the-ba.net/scicomm
The bursaries are designed to attract a wider range of delegates to the conference and are available to the following target audiences
* science communication students
* freelancers/microbusiness (less than 10 employees)
* campaigning groups
* representatives from BME outreach groups
* representatives from community development organisations
Bursary recipients will have their conference fees paid and will be eligible for a contribution of £250 per person to assist with travel and accommodation expenses.
Five bursaries will be awarded in each category. Additional bursaries may be awarded depending on the level of interest within each target group. Bursaries will be awarded based on how applicants intend to disseminate information from the conference to others in their field.
Online applications for the bursaries are now open and close at 17.00 on Monday 25 April. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 29 April.
For more information, details on eligibility or to apply visit http://www.the-ba.net/scicomm
Those awarded bursaries to attend the conference last year are eligible to apply this year; however priority will be given to those who have not received a bursary before.
The conference is jointly organised by the BA and the Royal Society.
