Hello Hannah, good to hear from you and I'm glad our talks made such an
impression. As I said at the study weekend, do start writing - anything and
everything - and as Mike said, join the ABSW as a student member.
Mike - I began with your SYWTBASW quote on the difference between science
communication and science journalism. Did you say you are following this up
in an article somewhere?
Best wishes Hannah and good luck

Dear all,
My name is Hannah and I am a Physics undergraduate student at King's
College London. I am the president of the King's College Maxwell Society
(www.kclmaxsoc.org.uk) whose aim is to introduce students to areas of
physics beyond the scope of their degree courses and also to provide a more
relaxing and enjoyable side to the life of those studying physics.
I have been inspired to pursue a career in Science Communication through
our recent weekend away at Cumberland Lodge. We had fantastic speakers
from the BA, Nature, City University and IoP - and many of them told me
this was a good place to start getting involved and meeting people!
I am just finishing my second year and am hoping to do an MSc in Science
Communication once I graduate. I am therefore trying to build up a
portfolio of things I have done - by writing articles, attending
conferences, entering competitions, doing work experience, volunteering -
anything really. I am also looking for bursaries that I can apply for to
do the masters course at Imperial.
If anybody has any helpful suggestions please contact me, any help will be
greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Hannah
