Centre and Periphery in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine: Call for Papers
The Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of Manchester, UK, is organising a conference on "Centre and periphery in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine" in early March 2006.
This is a workshop-style conference geared towards postgraduates in the fields of History of Science, Science Studies, and cognate disciplines. The keynote speaker will be Professor Roy MadLeod, from the University of Sydney.
The centre is issuing a call for papers for postgraduate students in the relevant fields on topics relating to issues concerning the role of centres of innovation or construction of knowledge as well as associated periphery areas, in their identification, their interdependence, and their importance in shaping science, technology and medicine. The talks should be twenty minutes in length. The deadline for applications is January 15th, 2006.
