There is no common practice, that I can see.

HI All,
In my negotiations with various publishers I am finding a variation in
the number of prior years access allowed when switching from print to
online. Some publishers give 1-2 years prior access, even back 5
years,
while others such as Karger will only allow access starting with the
first year of the switch to online only. For example, Karger will only
give us online access from 2005-Present even though we've been print
subscribers to one of their titles back as far as 1964. I am finding
this policy to be rare. (If I want prior access I am required to pay
for
it ....again ...with the first time being the print copy.)
What are you finding to be common practice among the publishers with
whom you contract as far as the number of years of access allowed when
you first switch to online only?
