The Director of the RSC, Professor Stephen Castles will be leaving the centre
in the New Year to take up a new and exciting position at the James Martin
21st Century School at Oxford University. He will become the Senior Researcher
at the International Migration Institute. The RSC is accordingly looking to
replace Professor Castles with a new director. Please see below for further

The Department of International Development wishes to make an appointment to
the Leopold Muller Readership / Directorship of the Refugee Studies Centre. It
is hoped that the new Director will start as soon as possible. For further

Applicants should have a doctorate in an appropriate discipline, a
distinguished research record in forced migration and/or humanitarian studies,
significant university teaching experience in forced migration studies and
related areas, experience in leading and managing research teams and a record
of securing funds for research and other activities.
