Sen. Lugar Stresses Transparency in MDB Replenishment Legislation
http://www.freedominfo.org
June 1, 2005 - The Republican chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign
Relations Committee, Richard Lugar (R-Ind), has made transparency
reforms the central focus of legislation that also would authorize U.S.
contributions to five multilateral development banks, according to a
report published today on freedominfo.org's IFTI Watch column.
Lugar's bill includes instructions for U.S. representatives at five of
these institutions, including the World Bank, telling them to support
several anti-corruption and transparency reforms, many of which go
beyond current U.S. policy.
