Summary:
This two day course provides an introduction and overview of statistical
methods for meta-analysis, with an emphasis on combining results from
clinical trials. Topics to be covered include classical and Bayesian
approaches to meta-analysis of summary statistics and of individual
patient data, addressing biases, dealing with heterogeneity, combining
studies with different designs and use of widely available software. The
course is largely didactic, though with plenty of time for discussion
and short exercises.
Course Outline:
* Introduction to concepts of systematic review and meta-analysis:
* Basic methods for meta-analysis
* Treatment effects from parallel group trials
* More meta-analysis methods
* Heterogeneity
* Bias
* Different study designs
* Different outcomes
* Indirect comparisons
* Bayesian methods for meta-analysis
* Protocols for meta-analyses
