Dear Becky
You might find Einstein Year a good place to start as this is a year
long celebration of physics with the aims of inspiring young people
about contemporary physics and changing public attitudes towards the
subject.
You can find out more about the initiative at www.einsteinyear.org,
which also includes an events database of physics-based activities going
on throughout the year. (If anyone else on the list is doing a physics
activity this year, please add it to the database.)
Einstein Year is being evaluated independently by the Institute of
Education with the aim of finding out exactly what aspects of the Year
have had the most impact and whether attitudes have been changed. The
final evaluation report will be made publicly available next summer,
which is unfortunately a bit too late for your dissertation.
If you'd like more info about what we're doing and why, please contact
me off list.
Caitlin

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Physics Events.
Apologies for cross posting.
Dear All,
I am an MSc Science Communication student at Techniquest, Cardiff. I am
currently researching for my dissertation which is based on Physics
events; if and how events affect the attitudes held by the public
towards Physics.
The overall aim is to determine what types of events are currently
available and which types are most effective.
I would like to know if anyone is aware of any Physics events or
projects currently available for the public and schools, (keystage 3 and
above.) I am especially interested in events that aim to raise interest
in Physics careers, Physics education or Physics as a topic.
Any information would be gratefully recieved.
Thankyou,
Becky Read.
