That's interesting, Ken. I have a poem where one of the best lines is
actually remembered from another poet ... but I didn't know it at the time
(not consciously, anyway). It was published in magazine and book form before
I noticed or remembered where it came from. & now I am embarrassed to
publish the poem anywhere else (like a Selected or wherever) because of this
'mistake'. It looks like out and out theft!
But your line is so simple, I don't think you need worry about its origins.
You could just as easily come up with that one in everyday speech, so I
don't think you have any true worries there. What makes it special is its
environment and its placement.
