Thanks for that link, Dominic. It is most interesting, and explores along
some lines I've been thinking since the last US election; in particular,
that the real work exists in intellectual/political public strategies of
various kinds that are about broader things than button-pushing political
theatrics. Parallel to that, a continuing set of thoughts about political
protest art, which has maybe similar - if maybe inverse - critiques to be
made about it; but that's a different argument, if connected in certain
ways. Not sure what I think about details like a possible Marshall Plan for
the ME, for instance, but of course it all depends what that means...
It certainly seems clear that in many ways a lot of people are wanting to
make connections to movements before the 60s, and question a few assumptions
made then. Exactly that argument has been recently made about a crisis in
Australian theatre, for instance.
