Quite ridiculous that the parient should have to do the donkey work for the GP prior to an appointment ( no change there then).
I do not use Masta's site since thye started charging for information which I think is unethical anyway. Try emailing [log in to unmask] and request their travel immunisations and malaria prevention charts. You could also try www.travax.scot.nhs.uk also.
Alternatively you could try www.cdc.gov/travel/vaccinat.htm
which is the USA site which is also very good and free.
Cheers

for those of you involved in travel vaccination advice have any of you heard
of MASTA and do you use it?
one of my patients has rung her GP to book her vaccs for her forthcoming
holiday to panama and has been refused an appointment until she has been on
to this site, downloaded the information required and PAID for it. It costs
£3.49 online.
It is 9 pages long and covers the injections needed plus info about other
diseases prevalent in the Country e.g. Dengue fever. It suggests Hep A,
Typhoid and tetanus.
Also gives info on the threat of terrorism and general safety with regards
to crime etc, general info about natural disasters e.g. recent landslides,
earth quakes etc
like myself she is unhappy with her GP that they refused to see her without
this report.
the call charge is £1.00 per minute by phone and you need to give every
destination you are visiting plus departure date and time.
this seems to me to be a complete rip off as any travel vaccination advice
is available free via the Dept of Health websites as well as many others
that I am sure you all use as your preferred site.
I am appalled that a GP Practice appears to have no knowledge of what
vaccinations would be required and that a patient has to download this
information themselves prior to booking an appt.
whats does the list think?
