Rudolf Frieling and Dieter Daniels are the editors of the online
resource and context project "Media Art Net" which went online in
January 2004 presenting current discourses of media art in an
international context and with free access to the online platform.
The first module was related to a "Survey of Media Art" featuring ten
essays and audiovisual material to accompany these essays. The second
part is going online February 25 featuring 8 additional Key Topics
including 55 essays altogether (selected essays published in book form
as vol. 2). A network of curators and writers explore seminal interfaces
between media and art presenting a variety of approaches and contexts.
Key Topics include: Aesthetics of the Digital, Art and Cinematography;
Cyborg Bodies; Generative Tools; Mapping and Text; Photo/Byte; Public
Sphere_s, Sound and Image.
Book publication through Springer Vienna/New York. Essays by Inke Arns,
Dieter Daniels, Steve Dietz, Rudolf Frieling, Susanne Holschbach, Verena
Kuni, Gregor Stemmrich, Yvonne Volkart. The volume is a follow-up to
volume 1 (survey of media art). Both volumes are accompanied by related
multimedia and audiovisual materials online.
