Subject: wellcome trust race/ethnicity project launches bidil archive
Dear All
We thought that you might be interested in hearing that we have produced an
online archive relating to the heart drug 'BiDil'. Go to:
www.nottingham.ac.uk/igbis/reg/bidil.htm
The development of BiDi, a drug to treat congestive heart failure, by
NitroMed Pharmaceuticals has been at the centre of recent debates in the US,
UK and elsewhere about the role and significance of race/ethnicity in
medical research and clinical practice.
We are hoping that our online archive will be a resource for researchers,
patients, journalists, policymakers and others interested in following the
BiDil debate and the issues raised. It includes references to press releases
put out by NitroMed Pharmaceuticals, the US FDA, and other organisations;
press articles from the Anglophone media; scientific journal reports; as
well as commentaries from scientists, clinicians, social scientists and
others.
We expect the archive to be an ongoing project, and we will try to update it
as much as we can when new articles of relevance appear. We would welcome
people to contact us to alert us to any notable omissions and to any new
references that should be added. Please don't hesitate to email me at this
address.
Best Wishes
Richard Tutton, on behalf of the entire project team:
