Colleagues, I think some people might find it interesting to have a look at
this website describing the project below. Nikola, I was hoping the NHS
e-mail briefing and newsletter might feature this.

The Use of Tobacco and Related Substances by Ethnic Minorities: the
Development of a Culturally Valid Measure
Project Profile:
The above project aimed to research and develop a cross-culturally valid
method for measuring prevalence of smoking and related behaviours in
Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali and Cantonese speaking populations.
As a result of the research conducted, questionnaires in four different
languages have been developed with cross-cultural face and content validity
for future use in multi ethnic surveys to enable the collection of high
quality data on the use of tobacco and related substances.
Please note that further tests are required to test criterion validity,
reliability and sensitivity of these questionnaires prior to use and may
also require further proofreading, formatting and the addition of a
culturally and linguistically appropriate introduction. Due to size, each
questionnaire is provided in parts as a pdf.
a.. Urdu Questionnaires: Part one; Part two; Part three
b.. Punjabi Questionnaires: Part one; Part two
c.. Cantonese Questionnaires: Part one; Part two
d.. Sylheti Questionnaires: Part one; Part two; Part three
