A conference investigating the history of telecommunications with a strong
programme of thirty-five papers over two days, from Friday 11th at 2pm to
Sunday, 13th, covering issues of technological 'failure', path dependence in
telecommunications and its business history, new perspectives in the early
history of telegraphy, the rise of digital and the internet, communications
satellite technology, cultural impacts, and much more.

booking and registration facility thorugh its the call-centre. You will be
able to book by credit card over the telephone.

The deadline for the discounted registration fee of £100 (£60 student rate)
is Friday 4th November 2005, while day tickets can be purchased at the event
at a rate of £40 (please register early for this).
There will also be a conference dinner, which BT has kindly agreed to
sponsor. It will be held on Saturday, 12th November at 8pm in the restaurant
at the top of the BT Tower in Euston, London. As the BT Tower is no longer
open to the public, this represents quite a unique opportunity with a
wonderful total vista of the London skyline at night.
There will be wine and an exquisite buffet meal with seating available in
the rotating restaurant. The cost is £50 per head which can be paid either
at the conference or in advance by calling the above telephone number.
