And talking of Google, has anyone downloaded and looked at Google Earth?
http://earth.google.com/
It allows you to zoom around the globe, and zoom in on your home town
- or anyone else's (it's better if you live in the States as there is a
lot more detail - but its not bad in the UK, I can spot my house in rural
mid-Wales, and various other relative's homes around the country!). You
can change the angle of view so you look across the landscape as well as
down at it, and generally explore countries pretty well. Its all satellite
imagery with - I guess - some pretty good software behind them.
Fun for exploring ... and for teaching geography??
