Vivian, I've found that the privacy settings on your internet browser
can affect this. Privacy settings on your internet web browser need to
be set to lowest available otherwise documents can't open properly.
Change your privacy settings to "allow all cookies" (if you use MSN
explorer) and that might help - especially with proquest.

This has been my experience as well. No problems with Proquest normally.
But SED depends on which machine I'm using, NOT on which version of
Acrobat.
I wonder if it's worth sending our concerns to BL? Their Customer
Services people are very helpful usually.
Unlike one of the previous correspondents who dismissed SED as being
not worth it, I find it GREAT when it's working (which is most of the
time) - requests generally come a lot quicker than the post - sometimes
even the same day!

With us, the problem seems to be related to which the individual PC one
is
using, which may or may not boil down to which version of Acrobat has
been
installed on that particular PC. When we first started using the SED
system,
the instructions said Acrobat 6 would be sufficient, but it doesn't
seem to
be in reality. However, I don't think we've had problems with
ProQuest.

Subject: BL electronic pdf downloads
Hi,
Has anyone been having problems with the downloading of BL pdfs (SED)
recently? We seem to have problems with the different versions of
adobe
acrobat and basically with one version, we are unable to download pdfs
from
the BL and if we change it to another version, we are unable to
download
pdfs from Proquest. I'd just like to know if there are any similar
incidents elsewhere.
Thanks!
Vivian
