On 14th December ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) will be holding a half day conference on the topical issue of Libraries and e-learning. The speakers will include:
Jane Secker, London School of Economics
"Licence to thrill: getting the most out of CLA Higher Education Digitation Licence"
Jane will talk about the 3 year trial recently launched by the CLA to introduce a blanket scanning licence for the higher education sector. What does this licence cover? What are the limitations? And what obligations does it place on those institutions who decide to take it out? She will outline the strategy adopted at the LSE to implement and promote this licence
Gwyneth Price, Institute of Education
"Libraries and the e-Learning Curve"
Gwyneth will talk about some results from a TQEF project exploring access to, and use of electronic resources at the Institute of Education. She will also share some experiences of working with academics in an increasingly electronic environment and the development of a shared view of information literacy.

Workers' War Home Front Recalled
This is a partnership initiative between London Metropolitan University, the Trades Union Congress and the National Pensioners' Convention. It aims to create a major learning resource containing hundreds of digitised images and documents, oral testimony from those who worked on the Home Front during the war and contributions from historians providing thematic perspectives on the period. This talk will provide an overview of the project providing insight into its creation and application for online teaching and learning.
