THE EFFECTIVE SCHOOL LIBRARIAN/LIBRARY SERIES
SUPPORTING TEACHING AND LEARNING: THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE SCHOOL LIBRARIAN
19 MAY 2005, LONDON
This workshop offers school librarians the opportunity to examine current approaches to teaching and learning found within their own school; to explore the information skills needed by their pupils; to consider the contribution that the school librarian can make to teaching and learning within their school; and to develop ways of supporting learning effectively.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
School librarians who are beginning to develop their role in teaching information skills and supporting pupil learning.
WHY ATTEND?
The workshop will blend theory and practice to enable participants to enhance their work. Participants will consider different approaches to teaching pupils and how pupils develop their information skills. They will have the opportunity to design/adapt materials for use with pupils, and to plan a lesson.
The pre- and post-workshop activities will enable participants to apply the material directly to their own environment.
WORKSHOP LEADER: SHARON MARKLESS
Sharon has worked as a teacher both in secondary schools and further education. She currently works in higher education with teachers, lecturers and professionals to enhance their teaching.
