DESIGNING A LIBRARY DATABASE USING MICROSOFT ACCESS
13 & 14 April 2005, London
This two-day intensive hands-on workshop is designed for library and information professionals working with small, specialist collections who need to set up a functional database at minimum cost.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* learned about database concepts
* used the tools & techniques within Microsoft Access
* applied cataloguing principles and the creation of data fields
* used controlled language indexing
* created a catalogue of records
* created a user interface
This is a step by step database design workshop and each participant will take away their own basic database.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Those who have some basic understanding of databases in general, with some knowledge of Access in particular and who need to create a functional database.
WORKSHOP LEADER: KATHY RODDY
Kathy is a qualified librarian and information manager with considerable experience of working in public, academic and specialist libraries. She also has senior management experience gained in the voluntary sector and for the past three years been a freelance trainer and consultant specialising in the LIS field.
