Hi
I posted a general query on Lis Link regarding the production of
guides, but I
was wondering about the information literacy aspect of guides.
Here in UCD Library, we are trying to develop guides aimed at all
years, not just first years, as well as trying to deliver targeted
information on subject specific resources. This is independent of our
information literacy initiatives which at present largely relies on
the
individual librarian to provide the necessary documentation at each of
his/her sessions. This documentation may be then made available at
individual branch libraries or to the wider library if they are of
general application, of if another subject librarian expresses
interest in amending the guide for their subject.
I am aware that I am taking a short cut here, but would any of you be
prepared to recommend an article that deals with printed/electronic
aids and guides to finding information in terms of information
literacy development? Or are you aware of information literacy
projects that incorporate the production of guides, as well as
teaching classess, workshops etc? Maybe these guides are produced to
facillitate these classes?
Please reply off list and I will summarise.
Many thanks for any assistance!
Regards
Valerie
