Subject: Re: signatures for web ILL requests
Dear Alan,
We use the web-based ILLOS too. The software will prompt readers to
print off and sign a CDF. They then return it to us by post or fax, or
else scan the signed CDF into their PC and mail it to us as an
attachment. We print out and keep the signed CDF. As we use AddAddress,
we can not rely on allowing them to sign the CDF on receipt. Our usual
workflow is to do all our checks on requests - in stock? Available
Electronically? Available through a local cooperative scheme? and then
wait until the CDF arrives so we can apply immediately it is in our
hands.
We too would welcome a legal ruling on electronic signatures. Jenny

Subject: signatures for web ILL requests
Hello everyone,
I'm sure this subject has been raised before but I'll raise it again
anyway. We are looking to use ILLOS to allow submission of ILL requests
via webforms. What do other institutions out there do about the need for
a declaration signature? Is it OK to get forms signed on collection of
items? What about items which are posted out? or do most institutions
still need a signed paper form even before they will process a web
request? Are electronic signatures acceptable yet?
Any examples of what other folk do would be much appreciated
thanks
Alan
