We are looking at the licensing implications of allowing University of
Southampton students who are based in Beijing, to access our
subscription e-resources over the web. I know that the detail will be
in the licences and I will have a lot of checking to do as the journals
that we want to provide, come from many different publishers (including
ScienceDirect).
I would like to ask the group whether anyone else is facing a similar
challenge or if there are colleagues who are rolling out resources to
users in Beijing already. I think that there are work-around solutions
for some connectivity problems such as purchasing CDs of particular
resources and sending them to the students to use or perhaps by buying
subscriptions through alternative local suppliers in the region.
Any experiences that you can share will be gratefully appreciated.
