Course Overview
This is an introductory course covering all aspects of journals publishing
for those who are at the beginning of their careers. You will learn about
everything from peer review to online delivery, and will gain a clear
understanding of how all the elements in this fast-moving area fit together.
By the end of the course participants will be able to: understand the role
of the editor and editorial office; know what happens to a paper after
acceptance; understand how journal finances work; know about the
subscription cycle, subscription agents and customer service; appreciate
what goes into a journal marketing plan and how it is executed; and have
awareness of some of the threats and opportunities in the future for journal
publishers.
