Dear Catrin and others
Sincere apologies for any trouble you're having with PDFs on Blackwell
Synergy. We have found that this problem occurs only when using the
combination of Adobe version 5, Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Internet
explorer version 5.5/6. Upgrading to a (free) later version of the Adobe
reader should rectify the problem. If the issue persists, please don't
hesitate to contact Blackwell Synergy's help desk again on
[log in to unmask] or +44 (0)1865 778315.
Sincerely

Subject: [LIS-E-JOURNALS] Synergy PDF problem
Hello
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem.
For the last couple of months or so we have been unable to download PDF
articles from the Blackwell Synergy ejournal service.
When we click on a PDF link a window pops up asking whether we want to
open or save the file, and mentions something about ActiveX. When we
click on 'yes' we are told:
"Internet Explorer cannot download xxxxx from ww.blackwell-synergy.com.
Internet Explorer was not able to open the Internet site. The requested
site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."
However, if we right-click the PDF link and select 'open link' the file
opens completely normally.
I have been in touch with Synergy and our own network support team, both
of which seem to think the problem lies with the other.
So now I'm a bit stuck.
Any advice?
Thanks
Catrin
