	2005, London

	INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC SPEAKING

	26 January 2005, London

Speaking in public can be a daunting experience. Many of us are now required to speak in public - perhaps in front of colleagues, committees, executive boards or library users - and yet have had no formal training.

	BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING:

This one-day workshop is ideal for those who wish to discover how to speak in public with confidence.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE DISCOVERED:

	* useful techniques for managing nerves and building confidence

	* how to deliver a speech or talk appropriately, with reference to dress, body language, voice and language

	* how to build a relationship with an audience

	* how to give their audience a purpose in listening

	SPECIAL NOTES:

To get the most from this workshop participants will need to practise their skills and make the most of this opportunity to receive feedback in a safe environment.

Participants should come ready to give two very brief talks: one on a subject of personal interest, and a second on an area relating to work.
