Dear Colleagues,
The International Boundaries Research Unit at the University of Durham
is seeking to appoint a research associate to help expand the Unit's
research agenda. Working with IBRU's Academic Director, Director of
Research and other colleagues in the Department of Geography, the
primary role of the research associate will be to assist in the
development of grant-funded research projects relating to international
boundaries, territory, geopolitics, security and imperialism. Duties
will include monitoring research funding opportunities, preliminary
research, writing proposals and liaising with funding bodies. The
successful candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute to
other IBRU activities, including training workshops, international
conferences and consultancy projects.
The position is offered for 12 months in the first instance, although
when grant funding is obtained it is anticipated that the RA would be
likely to play a key role in the subsequent research. The job would be
ideal for someone who has recently completed a PhD in international
boundary studies, political geography, international relations or a
related discipline; however, a PhD is not a prerequisite for the post.
Further details of the post and an online application form are available
at http://jobs.dur.ac.uk (vacancy reference 739). The deadline for
applications is 11 April 2005.
I would be most grateful if you could forward this announcement to
anyone you know who may be interested in this exciting opportunity.
With thanks,
m a r t i n
