British Psychological Society Developmental Section Conference
Edinburgh 5th – 8th September 2005
Announcement and First Call for Papers
The University of Edinburgh is delighted to host the BPS Developmental
Section 2005 Conference. This year's conference will be held in the heart
of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities and will combine academic
excellence with a culturally rich social programme. The conference
welcomes national and international academics from all areas of
Developmental Psychology. Post-graduate students are also encouraged to
attend and competitive bursaries are available.
The conference is pleased to announce four excellent keynote speakers:
• Prof Simon Baron-Cohen, University of Cambridge
• Prof Jay Belsky, Birkbeck College, University of London
• Prof Kevin Durkin, University of Strathclyde
• Prof Susan Gelman, University of Michigan
There will also be three invited symposia: details to be announced.
A full social programme has been planned with events every night of the
conference. These include an informal wine reception, a formal welcome
ceremony the historic University of Edinburgh Playfair Library, and a
conference dance and buffet featuring traditional Scottish dancing and a
more contemporary disco. The conference has been timed to follow on from
the Edinburgh Festivals making it possible for delegates to combine a
visit to the conference with these international cultural events.
Registration fees include the costs of the social programme and have been
set at: £120 for non-Developmental Section members; £110 Developmental
Section members; and £55 for students. The deadline for early
registration is 29th July 2005.
The conference welcomes a range of presentation formats including: papers,
posters, symposia and roundtable discussions. The deadline for submissions
is 30th April 2005.
Accommodation in Edinburgh has been reserved for delegates at very
competitive rates. The deadline for booking guaranteed accommodation is
5th June 2005.
