There are still some places available on this years BREATHE workshop ‘The Path
Less Travelled: Clinical Skills and the Health Psychologist’. This is being
run by Dr Paul Chadwick who is both a Clinical and Health Psychologist
specialising in the psychological management of obesity, diabetes and
infertility. Dr. Chadwick has had extensive experience in training lay people
and health professionals in the application of psychological approaches to
improve physical health and emotional well-being.
We can now announce that three additional speakers have been confirmed for the
workshop. These are Susan Ayres, Nicky Thomas and Barbara Wren. Dr. Susan
Ayers is a Lecturer in Health Psychology at Sussex University whose research
interests include the development of PTSD after health events, particularly
after child birth. She is also training to be a Cognitive-Behaviour Therapist
and provides consultation to Gynaecologocal Services. Dr. Nicky Thomas is a
Consultant Health Psychologist at St. Thomas' Hospital where she specialises in
the management of sickle cell disease using a CBT framework. Barbara Wren is a
Health Psychologist working in Occupational Health where she provides
individual consultation to staff members as well as advising on trust-wide
policies relating to psychological well-being at work..
