I'm briefly lived in Russell Sq as a small child and I find myself in or
near it most weeks, but thankfully not today. I was on top of the twin
towers with the family a few days before 9/11 and was out on a student
drinking spree in Birmingham on the night of the 1974 pub bombings. We have
to live our lives and the risk of being directly effected are low, but it
certainly makes you think.
We can't hope to protect ourselves from such attacks unless we change the
environment which make such dreadful acts seem rational to those who carry
them out.
