Dear all,
thanks to those who have responded to my request
for information on automated point counters or
stepping stage for polarisation microscope. If
you run into such a problem, as a geologist one
notices how small our research world is. The
James Swift point counter that is widely used was
manufactured by one employee of his company.
Along with his death production ceased as well.
The model that we used in Halle until it broke
down last month was probably manufactured several
decades ago in East Germany by a company that disappeared as well.
To my knowledge there exists only one company
that produces automated point counters, or
stepping stages as they are also called. Thank's
to Gawen Jenkin for the information. The link to
their website is http://www.steppingstage.com
I have contacted them and they promised to send
me a quote. If anyone is interested about the
pricing just let me know and I'll contact you once we get the quote.
Thanks once again,
Jochen
