Consequentiality: Mythology, Theology, Ontology

Participants in this international,
interdisciplinary conference, the second in a 3-
part series, will explore how theories and
understandings found in mythology, religion,
philosophy, and science have shaped our
perceptions about the world, social organization
and interaction, governance, and human welfare
and rights. Papers and alternative presentations
(poetry, short story, visual arts) will be
accepted from a wide range of disciplines,
including international affairs, political
science, philosophy, psychology, sociology,
biology, neurology, anthropology, literature,
visual arts, history, intellectual history,
cultural studies.
Topics may include, for example: the
relationship between religion and political
theories/state and church; religious pluralism;
fundamentalism; crusades; imperialism and
colonization; genocide and holocaust; human
rights; tribalism, nationalism and
globalization; the "God gene" or biological
tendencies toward religious/spiritual beliefs;
mythology in primitive and contemporary
societies; mind structure and perceptions;
popular culture; science fiction and fact;
archetypes and stereotypes; postmodernism.
The deadline for abstracts/proposals is 8 April
2005. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words
in length and should be submitted electronically
