NORFOLK MUSEUMS AND ARCHAEOLOGY SERVICE
This is your chance to join one of England’s leading museum services at a
time of major investment focused on increasing access to our museums and
collections.
NMAS is part of phase 2 of Renaissance in the Regions and is the lead hub
for the Eastern region. Postholders will be involved in using the 'Inspiring
Learning for All' framework to improve museum services and measure the
impact these have on people's learning.
Post 1: LEARNING MANAGER
Salary: SO1 37 hours a week
Based with King's Lynn Museums (4 days) and the Ancient House Museum in
Thetford (1 day), you will help in shaping two major museum re-developments
and contribute to the delivery of lifelong learning across Norfolk.
Your wide remit will include formal education programmes, family events,
community outreach and gallery interpretation.
You will join us at an exciting time. In King’s Lynn the Lynn Museum will be
re-developed during 2005 and you will join the display team and lead the
development of learning opportunities. You will also line manage a Community
Outreach Officer.
Thetford Museum is also being re-developed during 2004-06. You will take a
key role in developing a lifelong learning strategy, working with the
Outreach Officer and Project Team.
You will have recent experience of museum education work, excellent
communication skills, flexibility, enthusiasm and commitment to museums as
providers of lifelong learning.
Post 2: COMMUNITY OUTREACH OFFICER
Salary: Scale 6 37 hours a week (fixed term for 3 years initially)
Based with King’s Lynn Museums, you will be responsible for developing and
delivering a programme of high quality community outreach and audience
development projects across West Norfolk, working with a broad range of
partners both on- and off-site. You will be expected to target communities
in rurally isolated and deprived urban areas, developing new partnerships
where appropriate.
This Heritage Lottery Fund supported post forms a key element of the
Outreach and Audience Development Strategy for the Lynn Museum development
project. After the re-opening of museum you will help to fulfill the
potential of this new resource, which will include a community display area.
You should have experience of working in the museums, arts or heritage
sectors and a proven track record of partnership working, project
development and event delivery.
