Dear GEM Members,
NEW GEM CHAIR
Following the recent resignation of Stephen Manion as Chair of GEM for
personal reasons, Geoffrey Bond as Vice Chair has taken over as Chair until
the next AGM in September.
As a result of Stephen's resignation there will be some changes to the
elections this year and a revised nomination paper will be circulated to all
GEM members. Geoffrey Bond has agreed to stand for Chair and so we shall
need to elect a new Vice Chair. Lynne Ashton has kindly agreed to stay on
as Secretary for a further year to ensure continuity. There is still a
vacancy for an ordinary Trustee.
We thank Stephen for his two years of work for GEM as Chair and welcome
Geoffrey into the role.
Geoffrey Bond is a lawyer, businessman and broadcaster with a deep interest
in museum education. He is also Chair of London Archives, Libraries and
Museums, Chairman of Papplewick Pumping Station and founder of WET (Water
Education Trust), and Deputy Chairman of the Museum of Law and the National
Centre for Citizenship and the Law.
