Shropshire Archives
The Discovering Shropshire’s History Project
Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund this project is based at Shropshire
Archives, located in the centre of Shrewsbury. It offers an exciting
opportunity to interpret, explain and make accessible Shropshire’s
exceptional archaeological, historical and landscape heritage. It will
allow everyone to discover the variety and significance of Shropshire’s
historical and cultural landscapes.
Education Officer
Grade SO1 - £22,512 - £24,000 per annum
37 hours per week - 12 months fixed term contract with a possible extension
- 12 months part-time with a possible extension
(Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience)
Ref: PM023
This post is responsible for co-ordinating the creation of educational
material and content. You will also influence how the project is delivered
through audience development. Your role will involve the supervision of
volunteers and promotion of the project. You will be able to demonstrate
your experience of education especially the national curriculum and will be
educated to a degree or equivalent level. An interest in heritage is
desirable. Good IT and writing skills are essential. You will be capable
of working to targets within a team. Training will be given to the
successful candidate.
Cataloguer and Researcher
Grade SO1 - £22,512 - £24,000 per annum

You will work as part of a small team and will be responsible for
developing the content that will go onto the internet and into education
packs. You will be closely involved with organisation and supervision of
volunteers. Good IT skills are essential. Experience of heritage
cataloguing and databases, especially CALM, ExeGesIS or Adlib, is desirable
as is knowledge of Shropshire’s history. You will be capable of working to
targets within a team. Training will be given to the successful candidate.

Project Support Officer
Grade 4 - £13,458 - £14,106 per annum pro rata
18.5 hours per week, 18 months temporary contract
(Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience)

You will be responsible for providing general administrative and financial
support to the project. You will have a good standard of education, 5
GCSEs or equivalent, and good IT skills. Good numerical skills, including
the ability to use financial spreadsheets, are also essential, as is the
ability to be able to balance different priorities, and to work quickly and
accurately. Previous office experience, including the use of financial
systems, would be an advantage.
