Dear Paul,
I've had a look at your site, but it doesn't seem to do what I want. To
save having to write long screeds explaining the weird building type I'm
looking for, a comparable search would be for thatched buildings where
the thatch has been worked into birds or other figures.
To do this, I need to get hold of the building inventories, preferably
with photographs, as buildings do sometimes get recorded as 'thatched'
but the birds are rarely mentioned (and in Estonian, etc. I could see a
swan, but I wouldn't know the Estonian for it).
On your site, although not designed for the straw swan detector, it
would be helpful if you linked to _all_ the monument and building
databases, and had a bibliography for all the lands you cover. Perhaps
this is under 'extended partners' - but that page failed to download.
Perhaps because I am on a dial-up modem?
Also, I couldn't see anywhere how people could contribute data/join the
partnership. This makes me suspicious: closed EU-funded partnerships
are liable to collapse at fundings end, and thus, if they have
communication as a core aim, are set up to fail.
The interface itself, I found opaque. Could you put on a 'help' button,
linking to some walk-throughs, and to some FAQs?
Best wishes,
Pat
(memo to self - make sure that the EU partnership that I'm in, which is
planning long-term sustainability strategies and would like ever-so-much
to make new friends, SAYS SO on its front page)
