Would I risk being banned from this list, if I said,
that this is a topic where Godard definitely deserves
a mention?
Anyways, boring in this context is a term that might
be best circumscribed as "intellectual", if I
understand it correctly (so the opposite to the
brain-draining we´ve had before). I´d suggest
Cronenberg´s "Stereo" and "Crimes of the Future";
someone mentioned New York underground movies before,
and they might belong in that category. I´d call most
genuine art films boring as well (boring meaning
avoided any emotional impact), like Yoko Ono´s /
Fluxus just-for-fun films.
