I think this is what David Bellamy was trying to put forward when he got
slaughtered in the press recently. As far as I know he was trying to say
that loss in biodiversity was being overlooked because of the focus on
Climate Change, which in his opinion we couldn't do much about anyway.
In my current job I do environmental awareness training in companies and the
people we talk to all know about climate change but are far less aware of
other issues such as biodiversity, water shortages, social issues etc. I
don't think we can afford to reduce the focus on climate change but other
(equally important?) issues are loosing ground do to the lack of publicity.
Are we 'spending money' tackling climate change? Lomberg, as an economist,
presumably sees taxation as companies spending money climate change, to me
it looks like generating money to be spent on other things as Chris says.
Sorry never understood economics, did really badly in that module at Uni.
