Subject: SWPSA 2006 Conference
Dear Colleague,
I am writing to you as chair of the Political Theory section of the
Southwestern Political Science Association's 2006 conference. The
Southwestern, which has traditionally been among the most theory-friendly
regional conferences, will occur in San Antonio on April 11-15. I want to
invite you to consider contributing to the Political Theory program in some
capacity-either by proposing a paper (better yet: a full panel!) or by
volunteering to serve as a panel chair or discussant. The theme for the
conference as a whole is "Good Social Science"-a theorist may immediately
think: "Define `Good'"!-but proposals are by no means limited to or by that
theme.
San Antonio is a lovely, vibrant and historically rich city, and the weather
there in mid-April should be very pleasant. I would also appreciate it if
you would pass along this invitation to colleagues of yours who might be
interested-both graduate students and faculty. Another noteworthy quality of
the Southwestern meetings is a customary openness to graduate student
participation, especially students who are "cutting their teeth" on the
conference process.
For more information about the conference and the organization, please
consult the Association's website at www.swpsa.org <http://www.swpsa.org>.
The deadline for submission of proposals is October 15, 2005; political
theory proposals should be sent directly to me, using the form on the
Association website.
I am hopeful that there will be a large number of interesting and
intellectually diverse political theory panels in San Antonio next April.
But only YOU can make my hopes become reality!
Cheers,
Cary Nederman
