I'm interviewing an applicant on Monday who has declared himself "half
blind" whatever that might mean.
To be prepared, can I ask how adjustments are divided between the
Disabled Student Allowance and the institution?
For example, we were told in a training session not to worry about blind
students as the Disabled Student Allowance would provide a scanner and
software like Omnipage which together with Jaws would permit the student
to access any printed materials, and that if they needed braille that
would be paid for out of the Disabled Student Allowance.
I find that unbelievable - and don't want to be caught out - having read
some of the emails about extracting electronic copies of textbooks from
publishers etc.
Your advice would be really appreciated!
