Hello Judith,
I believe that Julian Elliott left Sunderland about two years ago. Sunderland
University's Policy & Code of Practice for Students with SpLDs has been in place
since 1996. We provide excellent support for students with SpLDs, irrespective
of any individual academic's point of view. Indeed many students with dyslexia
choose to study here because of the range of support that we have, not just from
the Disability Support Team, but also from our academic staff across the
institution.
We continue to be proactive i.e. we've been offering Brain Gym to students for
over two years and are currently the lead HEI partner in a joint research
programme with the British Dyslexia Association, looking at the transition of
students with SpLDs from school to university and on through to employment.
Indeed Susan Tresman, Chief Executive of the BDA, is a Visiting Professor at the
University of Sunderland.
Best wishes,
Sue Cain
Disability Services Manager
