There are two new entries on the DPC website:
1. A DPC Marketing Plan commissioned from ESYS is now available
from the DPC Members’ Area at:
http://www.dpconline.org/members/main/dpcdocplan.html#mktplanjune05
DPC members will need their user name and password to access this
document. The report was commissioned following the DPC Planning Day in
February 2005, at which participants expressed a strong view that the
DPC should engage more confidently with the commercial sector, without
compromising the overall ethos of the DPC and its strict policy of
neutrality.
I would encourage all DPC members to look at the report, which is both
well written and, as the Board agreed at its meeting earlier this month,
makes significant progress in charting a course the DPC could take. The
author of the report, Gill Joy, has incorporated some comments from the
Board into the final report. We will be encouraging involvement from
DPC members in a marketing group, to develop a strategy based on this
report. The marketing group currently consists of Simon Bain, Neil
Beagrie, and Maggie Jones. If anyone is interested in being part of
this group, please let me know.
2. The latest edition of the DPC Directory of Digital Repositories
and Services in the UK. Duncan Simpson has revised and updated the
Directory since the September 04 version, checking and updating existing
entries, as appropriate and also adding new ones. There are six new
entries in the Directory which met the overall criteria. The
introduction has also been revised and expanded. The new edition of the
Directory is available from:
