Can you hear the clicks for Africa?
Click!
After seeing the BBC play on Saturday evening about the G8 conference I
have been thinking about how "clicks" could be used to bring attention to
the children who die avoidably in Africa, one every three seconds.
Click!
If people make a click every three seconds they need do no more unless
someone asks why they or expresses some annoyance. Of course at this point
the message can be given to those who haven't heard yet.
Click!
Snapping your fingers every three seconds is probably the easiest way to
set the message in motion. You could put your credit card to good use: hold
one end; lift a corner just a little - and let it go.
Click!
With any luck other people will join you: snapping their fingers; clicking
their credit card; tapping with a coin; making a small sharp sound to
remember the child that just died somewhere in Africa.
Click!
Perhaps we can pass this message round the world, each making clicks until
everyone's conscience has been pricked by the sound of millions of clicks
and we give our leaders no choice but to act.
