CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC CULTURES
LAUNCH 28/29 October 2005
The Department of Music at Goldsmiths has established a new Research Centre to engage critically with the interactions and exchanges which have developed in the last 100 years as a number of hitherto separate strands in the practice and study of music have converged.
Friday 28 October

6.30 Wine Reception in the Senior Common Room
7.30-9.00 Concert of contemporary, world and popular music, given by staff and students of Goldsmiths: Contemporary Music Ensemble (Dir. Roger Redgate), Ensemble Bakhtar (Dir. John Baily) and Goldsmiths Popular Music Collective (Dir. Simon Deacon). The concert will take place in the Great Hall.

The purpose of the symposium is to examine processes of musical creativity that involve composers and performers drawing inspiration from genres usually considered outside the expected range for mainstream work.
