SECTION OF CANCER GENETICS
Sutton
Statistician / Genetic Epidemiologist (HAD27)
The Section of Cancer Genetics has an international
reputation for its work on inherited susceptibility
to cancer. Our previous work led to the discovery of
the breast cancer predisposition genes, BRCA2 and
CHEK2*1100delC. We have collected over 2500 breast
cancer families and are expanding our work to identify
further breast cancer genes. This will encompass
multiple targeted and genome-wide analyses including
haplotype-tagging approaches, genome-wide exonic SNP
analyses and high-throughput, large-scale, resequencing.
We are also initiating microarray analyses using our
in-house Affymetrix platform. We are seeking enthusiastic,
committed researchers to join our Team of 8 researchers
under the direction of Professor Michael Stratton and
Dr Nazneen Rahman.
We are seeking a researcher with experience in statistical
genetics to contribute to the analyses of on-going studies
and the design and execution of future studies. The Team has
close links with Professor Doug Easton at CRUK Epidemiology
Section in Cambridge and many analyses will be undertaken in
collaboration with his Group. Applicants must have a
postgraduate qualification in statistics, or equivalent
qualification, and experience in a research environment.
The starting salary will be in the range of £22,887 to £28,161
per annum inclusive.
Good organisational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation

will be based in new laboratories within the purpose-built Brookes
