Dear RM or is that RIM or something else in the UK Colleagues,
I wish to introduce myself. I hail from Perth Western Australia and i have
only recently been made aware of this list. I currently am a member of the
Australian RMAA RM list plus the North American RM list plus others in
those two locations for Archives.
I have some 30 years experience with film based imaging or previously know
as microfilm and digital imaging since 1990. I have been involved with the
Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) since the early 1990's
and a member of the Australian version of AIIM called IIM and its
predecessor the Microfilm Association of Australia since 1974.
I have written an article or two maybe three in regard to microfilm,
imaging/scanning, standards, born digital and the likes which are available
on one of my web sites @ http://www.microfilm.net.au/articles.shtml
I have a second web site which has yet to become active and I have
registered the URL of www.records-management.com.au and www.r-m.com.au so
when i get some time I will get these up and running with some data. In the
meantime i am using my Digital Microfilm Equipment (DME) website @
www.microfilm.net.au for the purpose of making my outpourings available.
I attended the recent ARMA 2004 Conference and Exhibition in Long Beach and
I note that my friends Larry Medina and Peter Kurilecz are making excellent
contributions to this list. I recently put together a presentation on my
assessment of the North American RIM environment which I presented last
Friday 26th November titled - Why the Americans are beating us at Records
Management! - so if anyone is interested I am in the process of releasing
the information, for a fee so contact me if you require further details.
I trust that I also can provide worthy input.
I noted in the Archive for November a call for input on the Digital v
Microfilm situation but there did not appear to be any responses to the
request. Maybe I can put on my thinking cap and post something on the
subject.
Regards, Laurie
