medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
One scholar who discusses art in historical/theological context is Marcia Kupfer. I've found that literary critics are far more likely to associate images with "theological conversations" than are art historians, who seem content to measure, to date and to argue about who influenced whom. Hence Marcia and Meyer are among my favorites.
