medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The problem with Dan Brown is that he continually appears in the media
asserting the factual basis of the book. When challenged on his facts or
scholarship he reverts to "it's just a story." He is an advocate of the
whacky positions of his characters but won't engage in any debate of the
material.
He is also the object of a plagiarism claim by one Lewis Perdue who has a
good case for having written Brown's books some years ago. My current
opinion of Brown is that he doesn't believe in anything so much as
self-promotion. The fact we, and so many others, are even talking about his
books shows him to be an excellent snake oil salesman.
