Dear all,
I am suggesting that we hold a symposium/conference at Cardiff
University on 4th and 5th April 2005. I have booked one the posh
committee rooms which can host either table discussions for 12 to
full presentations to an audience of 100+. I have also booked a
couple of other rooms in case people wished to split into groups or
whatever. Obviously we don't have to use them if numbers are small.
The dates were chosen because they are in the Easter hols but away
from the BSA conference.
Initially I would like to get some suggestions from you all about who
to invite, styles of presentation, scale of the event and whether, if
we were to go a little extravagant, we should ask for a small
conference fee and supply lunch, drinks, crack cocaine or whatever.
Personally I liked what Dave did in Lancaster, which was to get
people to largely look after themselves regarding accomodation and
squeezing money out of the dept for tea and coffee and sarnies.
Please let me know soon, or I will just go ahead and do what I
reckon, which as those of you that know me, will please no one.
All the best and hear from you soon
Ben
